Facilities are still struggling with staffing and Survey Survival. The requirements keep changing, and it is challenging to keep up. All long-term care facilities must realize that compliance is a considerable responsibility for infection control. Staff must provide appropriate care and treatment, as well as prevent the transmission of disease as viruses continue to attack. F880, the regulation that covers Infection Control, is among the top deficiencies cited. It is easy to cite when staff are not educated on new areas of concentration that impact disease transmission. One of these areas is the new requirement for ENHANCED BARRIER PRECAUTIONS (EBP). Nurses are still struggling to understand what and who should be on EBP. In addition, CNAs have been known to ignore the requirements and provide care without PPE or inappropriate PPE wearing.
Objectives:
- Understand compliant Infection Control Practices
- Identify the most common deficiencies that are being cited
- Identify various compliance efforts to prevent deficiencies
- Understand line list data and how it affects each unit
