There are new CMS regulations regarding Trauma Informed Care. It is inclusive of what we know about PTSD and all the ramifications of life trauma.
All facilities, including assisted living facilities, mental health, and other long-term care communities, have residents who have experienced traumatic events that were not addressed and were buried. It looks at the trauma that your residents may have experienced and their responses to handling the event.
It is an effort on your part to understand the residents’ life experiences and deliver effective care.
Objectives:
- Identify ways of assessing life experiences
- Implement strategies to incorporate organizational, clinical, and staff behaviors to avoid the triggers effectively.
- List ways that your facility can offer safe and supportive environments.
Please share this invitation with other nurses or key department heads who would benefit from this informational presentation.
